As someone who has served in education roles for thirty five years – from faculty member and university administrator to professor, president, dean and department chair – I have been intimately engaged in various education issues.
I have especially focused my career on higher education, serving as the president of Colorado State University and the dean of the W. P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University. Having a college degree is crucial in today’s competitive job market, and increasing the number of citizens with advanced education is critical to society’s need for human capital. More and more adults are returning to schools and universities, especially to career colleges and private sector schools, to gain a competitive edge. These schools provide real education for a huge number of students who are seeking degrees with a specific career path in mind. Although my background has been in traditional higher education, I also work closely with private sector schools to help further develop ways for students to gain access with success.
This blog aims to serve as a resource on how we can achieve success in higher education. I offer some of my personal opinions and will post relevant news articles and interesting studies to keep you engaged in pressing education issues.
I welcome your thoughts and feedback and thank you for visiting.
